বাংলাদেশের ডিসেম্বর-নির্বাচনে আওয়ামী লীগ তথা মহাজোটের বিশাল বিজয় এবং বিএনপি তথা চারদলীয় জোটের শোচনীয় পরাজয় এক কথায় অবিশ্বাস্য এবং অভাবিতপূর্ব। বাংলাদেশের রাজনীতির যারা নিবিষ্ট পর্যবেক্ষক, তারাও ধারণা করেছিলেন, সুষ্ঠু ও অবাধ নির্বাচন হলে আওয়ামী লীগ হয়তো সরকার গঠনের মতো সামান্য মেজরিটি নিয়ে জিতবে।

In Dhaka, armed assailants shot dead Nazrul Islam, 32, Ward 56 president of Swechchhasebak Dal, at his Bijoynagar office on Monday. Witnesses said four armed men in two motorbikes reached Aqib Bumper House at Bijoyagar at around 3:30pm and shot Nazrul point blank.
